Rob McElhenney has revealed his secret weapon in Wrexham's race for the Premier League - his dad Bob. The Always Sunny in Philadelphia star took over the ailing Welsh club with megastar Ryan Reynolds in 2021.

And now they're on the cusp of the Championship play-offs into the Premier League after three promotions in a row - partly down to his dad, Bob Snr.

Rob said: "He has a spreadsheet that he starts at the beginning of each season. He updates it throughout and I share it with Ryan and the board.

"In fact I share it with everybody at the club because his predictions are pretty spot on.

"Last year by mid-season he had the table almost laid out exactly the way that it ended. It's wild... and really helpful."

Bob Snr has really got the football bug. He is often seen around the Welsh town and goes to more games than his son.

Bob explained to the Fearless in Devotion podcast: "It's a magic spreadsheet that has multiple pages, all the statistics and all kinds of information about the teams.

"I load this thing up so that I can make predictions about what's going to happen.

"I can keep track of things and so then I send out communications to the McElhenney clan and beyond. I'll elaborate on what's going to happen and why as well as my prediction for score. And once in a while I'm right, which is great."

Wrexham are currently in sixth on goal difference. They need to better Hull and Derby's results on Saturday to get into the play-offs.

And the Hollywood star thinks they'll not only do that, but they'll get into the hallowed land of the Premier League.

He added: "I spoke to the players quite a lot over the last week. I could tell you each and every one of them believes that we can not only win this game this weekend, but that we can win three more after that and find ourselves in a very special place."
