Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp have 'underlying frustrations,' claims psychology expert

The argument Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp had during Liverpool's draw with West Ham over the weekend suggests problems exist between the pair, according to an expert psychologist

A psychology experts reckons Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp have "underlying frustrations" with one another following their recent pitch-side spat.

Liverpool's title hopes were all but dashed after their 2-2 draw with West Ham on Saturday, three days after a crushing 2-0 defeat to Everton in the Merseyside derby. Salah, who hasn't been at his best in recent weeks, was left out of Klopp's starting line-up at the London Stadium, but was summoned on 79 minutes with Liverpool pushing for a winner.

Before the Egyptian entered the fray, he was seen sharing a few choice words with Klopp on the touchline. The pair appeared to trade verbal blows and even threatened to square up to one another before natural peacekeeper Darwin Nunez got between them.

After the game, Klopp insisted the two of them had put the matter behind them, but sports psychologist Dr Victor Thompson thinks the incident is evidence of a bigger problem bubbling under the surface.

"I think there has been some problems brewing before that moment because it seemed to be quite a quick response by Mo Salah along the lines of get out of my face or dont tell me how to do my job," he told OLBG.

"It couldve been brewing during the match on the sidelines, but it was probably brewing before that because that obviously isn't the right arena to have that conversation," he added. "It looks to be underlying frustration from a previous event, maybe a grudge to just something not being right. A frustration that shouldve been addressed earlier."

Salah, who turns 32 next month, has been linked with a summer move away, with Saudi Pro League clubs reportedly lining up mega money offers for the forward. But it's understood Liverpool are confident he'll stay until at least 2025, when his current contract expires.

The Reds are hoping against hope to end Klopp's final season with a bang by overturning a five point gap between themselves and table-toppers Arsenal with just three games to go. Up next is a clash with Tottenham, and anything less than a win will likely dump them out of the title race mathematically.
