Cal Crutchlow column: How MotoGP star is keeping focussed amid coronavirus outbreak

Coronavirus chaos has thrown the MotoGP calendar into chaos but organisers have now published a new schedule and LCR Honda ace Cal Crutchlow can't wait to get started again

Coronavirus is accelerating in UK says Matt Hancock

We were disappointed not to race in Qatar - and then we had postponements to Thailand and the Austin Grand Prix due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Id have loved to have started the season in Argentina in six or seven weeks time, but thats now understandably been rescheduled to November 22. It's also great to see we'll still race in Thailand on October 4 and at the Circuit of the Americas on November 15.

We didnt have a bad test in Qatar - and we expected to be very competitive there.

Everyone was looking forward to the season starting in MotoGP - the staff, mechanics, teams and fans.

Its so disappointing, but we managed to see two fantastic races in Moto2 and Moto3 in Qatar.

Im keeping in touch with the team - and with Honda - to make sure the bikes are ready and prepared to go for Jerez on May 3.

Cal Crutchlow is a MotoGP heavyweight

Its no surprise the calendar has changed again.

Argentina would have been brilliant to start at for me personally, but weve now got it to look forward to in November.

Its been a fantastic track for me in the past with some podiums and a win.

Ill now continue my training schedule, Ive come back to my home in California to make sure I can maximise the good weather - even though its actually been raining a bit in San Diego!

Cal Crutchlow has a brilliant record in Argentina

Coronavirus and sport

I do a bit of cycling here, but Ill also have a rest because weve potentially got seven weeks.

I took Lucy and Willow - my wife and daughter - to the snow over the weekend.

Weve had a little bit of fun and now Ill ramp back up the training with some cycling.

Maybe Ill even get a chance to ride some motorbikes at some point and we can get racing again.
