The Daily Star: News with a Wink

MotoGP ace Marc Marquez wowed Valentino Rossi fans with super aggressive start

MotoGP superstar Marc Marquez impressed motorsport fans with a stirring performance in Malaysia after crashing on Saturday

MotoGP ace Marc Marquez impressed even Valentino Rossi fans with an incredible start to the Malaysian Grand Prix.

The Catalan superstar started 11th on the grid after a horrific crash in qualifying yesterday.

Marquez was eyeing pole position at the Sepang International Circuit, but was thrown off his bike going into Turn 2 during the Saturday session.

He certainly didnt appear jaded come race day, though.

Marquez scythed his way up the order after just a few turns.

That put him on course for an intriguing battle with Yamaha ace Maverick Vinales.

The two Spaniards battled it out, but it was Vinales who came out on top as he continues to finish the season strongly.

Marquez was second and Andrea Dovizioso was third. Rossi, meanwhile, was fourth.

What a start from Marquez, said on fan.

Just GOAT doing GOAT things, added another.

The man is born racer. Great stuff from the current champ his determination and desire to win is hugely impressive, said a third.

Yamaha supremo Wilco Zeelenberg suggested on Saturday that Marquezs crash was due to attempted mind games with Fabio Quartararo.

"Marc clearly tried to get into Fabio's head and he hit his head," he said.

"I hope Marc's not injured, but he tried to get into Fabio's head because he knows Fabio is fast."

British star Cal Crutchlow - who crashed out in Malaysia - told Starsport earlier this week that Marquez will beat Valentino Rossis record of 400 race starts.

I think Marquez will match Rossi's 400 grand Prix record because he's still so young and how many races he's already had, he said.

I think Marquez might do 400. But you never know. If he keeps winning the way he is he might stay at home.

Rossi is still going strong, he's riding the bike competitively at the front of MotoGP which is a big credit.
