Alex Marquez pulled off one of the most spectacular saves of the decade in qualifying this morning. The Spaniard is a rising star and looks set for a MotoGP seat sooner rather than later. It wasnt Marquezs racing that caught the eye earlier today, though, but his remarkable show of wits to avoid being catapulted off his bike in the wet. The 23-year-old looked to have lost control at Turn 14. His Kalex bike started bucking all over the track as it wrestled for **grip in the wet at Motegi. But Marquez unbelievably avoided a horrific high side by clinging onto his handlebars and keeping the bike upright.

Perry - who leads all the MotoGP coverage on BT Sport - posted on Twitter: And then he stops it and gets back on!!!!!! Respect. Alexs older brother, Marc Marquez, has already wrapped up the MotoGP championship and has himself become famous for his stunning saves. Speaking earlier this season, Marc urged his sibling to enjoy himself before worrying about moving up to the premier class. I see him enjoying the moment, happy and this is what makes the difference, Marc told Spanish daily Marca.
