MotoGP ace Jorge Lorenzo has confirmed his retirement - and now theres a vacant spot in the Honda garage.
Johann Zarco, who has been temporarily deputising for Takaaki Nakagami at LCR Honda, looks the most likely contender.
However, according to BT Sport pundit and paddock insider Neil Hodgson, Cal Crutchlow will also be considered by Alberto Puig.
They could put Cal there, Hodgson exclusively told Starsport. Out of the three riders, hes the best so would be the most obvious choice.
But one of Cals issues could be parting with Monster - theyre almost like a lifetime sponsor.
He wouldnt be able to stick with them as the factory Honda are sponsored by Red Bull.
But, you know, Cals potentially talking about it being his last year.
Why wouldnt you want to be arguably the best team in the paddock and have those factory Repsol leathers for once in your career.
Hes good friends with the owner of Monster.
And, because theyre good friends, maybe hell say: Cal, go and take this opportunity.
Thats what Id like to see - and I think theres a good chance it could happen.
Lorenzo is firmly established as MotoGP royalty but hes been ravaged by injuries this season.
The Spaniard suffered a serious vertebrae break that left him in a brace.
Hodgson says the 32-year-old has made the right decision.
Not stating the obvious, but breaking your back is very serious, he added.
Lorenzo broke the same part of his back that Wayne Rainey did - and he was paralysed.
Hell be very aware of that sort of stuff. Hes come back, given it a go and hes not right - clearly.
He doesnt want to to risk racing and crashing.
Who can blame him? Hes a multimillionaire and five-time world champion.
What a career - and what a rider. This hasnt tainted his legacy one bit.
When I think about Lorenzo, Ill just think about that immaculate racing style.
