TT Racer Olivier Lavorel has passed away from his injuries following a crash at the Isle of Man TT on Saturday 4th June.
A statement read: "Olivier sustained serious injuries in an incident during the opening lap of the first Sidecar Race of the 2022 Isle of Man TT Races on Saturday 4th June.
"The accident occurred at Agos Leap, just under one mile into the Course, and also claimed the life of Oliviers teammate, Csar Chanel. Olivier was airlifted to hospital in Liverpool before being transferred to a hospital in France in late June where his treatment continued.
Both Olivier and Csar were newcomers to the Isle of Man TT Races in 2022 but were an experienced pairing, taking numerous victories and podiums in the French F1 and F2 National Sidecar Championships. Everyone at the Isle of Man TT Races passes on their deepest sympathy to Oliviers family, friends and loved ones at this tragic time.
Csar Chanel passed away four days after the accident - on June 8th - but he was originally misidentified as Lavorel.
An inquest into Chanals death confirmed the two men had been wearing the wrong dog tags - which had led to the wrongful identification when Chanal was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of the accident, Lavorel was 35-years-old, and Chanal was 33-years-old. It was the first time the pair had competed in the Isle of Man.
Lavorel's death is the sixth from the 2022 Isle of Man TT - equaling the deaths recorded in 1970, the highest-ever total of fatalities.
