A mixed martial arts bout in the Czech Republic erupted into mayhem after one fighter sank his teeth into his opponent's ear.

Vaclav Mikulasek, nicknamed Baba Jaga, and Pavol Vasko, known to fight fans as Pali Hari, were competing when Slovakian fighter Vasko sparked outrage with his behaviour. In clips circulated on social media, Mikulasek can be seen clutching his ear and crying out in agony as he turns to face the referee.

At this moment, the audience turns on Vasko, who is shown batting away spectators as beverages and even seats come flying towards him. A promotional poster from Clash MMA advertising the match labelled it as 'No Rules'.

Despite this, the spectators were far from impressed with Vasko's conduct and he left the arena surrounded by security personnel after his opponent became just the latest MMA fighter to find himself in the wars in unexpected circumstances.

Mikulasek required 28 stitches to fix the injury inflicted, per his social media posts. He shared a clip on Instagram showing his bandaged ear, whilst providing further progress reports during his recovery.

In a separate Instagram image, Mikulasek's bloodied ear is visible. The caption reads: "I know I'm always here and nobody can do anything about it!!!!!"

Despite the controversy, Vasko seemed delighted with the coverage the fight was receiving outside Europe in the following days. "They are already writing about us in the USA clash power forever," he wrote.

The incident brought back memories of the notorious heavyweight boxing clash between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield. During that encounter, former world champion Tyson was thrown out after chomping a piece from his rival's ear.

Tyson and Holyfield have made peace in the years following the incident. There had been speculation about a third bout between the pair in 2024 after their two clashes in the 90s, but 'Iron Mike' dismissed such rumours.

Following Tyson's loss to Jake Paul, Holyfield posted a mock-up poster suggesting the third fight in a trilogy. Nevertheless, Tyson responded: "I love you brother but the trilogy is our friendship."

In 2020, Tyson looked back on the episode on Undisputed Truth. "I'm really very grateful that Evander forgave me for this," he said.

"What was I thinking about? He lost a piece of his ear, I lost a piece of money. A lot of money and I lost my licence.

"All I could say is that I snapped. I went through pure hell. I went from the 10th hated man on the planet, which I can handle, to numero uno.

"Then I was forced to read this contrived apology letter at the press conference for the Nevada State Athletic Commission. To make matters worse, I had to read it on my birthday, June 3rd, 1997. But now I really am sorry. Me and Holyfield became friends."
