Tiger Woods back hitting golf balls nine months after breaking leg in car crash

Tiger Woods is back on the golf course as he steps up his recovery from his terrible car crash. The golf legend has not featured on the PGA Tour since November 2020

Golf: Woods set for 'long road' to recovery

Tiger Woods has posted an encouraging update as he continues his recovery from a devastating car crash.

The golf legend was left with multiple leg injuries after being involved in a single-vehicle accident in Los Angeles back in February.

Emergency crews found an SUV upside down in a wooded area, located around 30 feet from the main road.

Woods suffered serious leg injuries when his car hit a curb and then a tree before rolling several times on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes in Los Angeles.

Horrific images from the crash site showed the front windscreen of the vehicle which appeared to be smashed and the front bumper of the car crushed.

But its good news for Woods fans as he posted a short clip of him on the driving range taking a full swing of the club through the ball.

The 45-year-olds right leg was wearing protective gear as he practiced his swing while making a gradual recovery from the horrific accident.

Woods gave the video the simple caption of: Making progress, which was liked over 140,000 times on Twitter.

Woods has not played in a PGA Tour event since November last year when he featured in the rescheduled 2020 Masters, but was then ruled out for the remainder of the year and beginning of 2021 through injury.

Initially the 15-time major champion was expected to return to the Tour at some point this campaign, however after being involved in the vehicle accident in February of this year his absence has now stretched to a year.

Earlier this month Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson was keen to examine the details of Woods' accident, which he explained further in his column on The Times.

The sceptical Clarksons Farm star revealed hed never really understood Tigers accident, writing: "Sure, police say he was driving at more than 80mph when he lost control, but it was a wide road.

"Hes a thrusting young man with a thriving pant compass and a sharp mind so the speed shouldnt have been a factor.

"Whats more relevant is that he hit the central reservation and careered across the road before hitting a tree at what experts say was 75mph. So he obviously hadnt braked very hard in the meantime.

The journalist went on to say: "Then he rolled over several times before emerging from the wreckage with nothing more than a hurt leg. Like I say, its odd.

American golf player Justin Thomas provided an update on Woods on the No Laying Up podcast.
