Paddy 'the Baddy' Pimblett orders 24 carat gold mouthguard but gags when fitting it

UFC star Paddy Pimblett's "really bad gag reflex" made a mouthguard fitting extremely difficult as he tried not to throw up for a solid two minutes

Paddy Pimblett gagged when getting fitted for a 24 carat gold mouthguard for his recent UFC victory.

'The Baddy' beat Octagon legend Tony Ferguson via a unanimous decision at UFC 296 last month, extending his record to 5-0 since joining Dana White's promotion. Before the fight, part of his preparations involved getting some new protection for his teeth.

He was sorted out by the Las Vegas-based Mouthguard Shop, who recently shared a behind-the-scenes look at the process. Their video showed Pimblett biting down on a grape-flavoured impression.

Owner Julian Viraye explained how he'd given him the smallest mould he could find to due his "really bad gag reflex" - but that still didn't stop him from gagging as he held it in his mouth for two minutes.

Julian helped him take it out once the time was up so it "didn't rip out his veneers", adding that Pimblett "started drooling everywhere" as it had gone hard.

The proud Scouser wanted a Liverpool themed mouthguard, which didn't sit well with the Manchester City supporter - but he followed those orders nonetheless.

It had 'Baddy' written front and centre as well as 'YNWA' and 'JFT 97' either side in nods to his beloved football club, with Julian also adding "real 24 carat gold" to "make it expensive".

The 22mm-thick guard was then complete, but viewers weren't impressed. One commented: "Wish I could have seen the finish product. Because that did not look good at all in the process."

A second argued: "That looks like complete s*** bro." A third questioned: "Why are you still getting orders from pro athletes when these look like s***?" And a fourth asked: "When are you gonna make one that actually looks good?"

It seems Pimblett himself may have agreed as when he emerged on fight night, he could be seen wearing a black guard in his mouth instead of the white and gold one made for him.
