Mass brawl breaks out in boxing fight as ex-UFC star brands opponent 'coward'

Former UFC star Darren Till's boxing debut against Mohammad Mutie ended chaotically with a post-fight brawl breaking out that saw security pile into the ring

Ex-UFC star Darren Till saw his debut boxing bout against Mohammad Mutie descend into chaos when a post-fight brawl broke out at Social Knockout 3.

Till defeated his opponent via a second round TKO on Saturday night in Dubai, with the 31-year-old landing a rabbit punch blow to the back of Mutie's head, causing the latter to sink to his knees.

While the punch appeared lacking in force, it left Mutie, who had his complaints to the referee waived off, needing to retire from the fight, handing Till the win. However, after going down in agonising fashion, Mutie seemed to recover pretty quickly.

Incensed, Mutie got to his feet and confronted Till, sparking a post-fight brawl that saw security pile into the ring to try and pull the two fighters apart. At one point, Mutie even managed to grab Till's leg, taking him down in the process.

Eventually, the pair were separated following the ugly scenes. And speaking after the altercation with Mutie, Till called out his opponent, claiming the former was "not a fighter."

"This is fighting - you get hit," Till said. "If you don't want to continue fighting, don't fight.

He's not a fighter. He's trying to be a fighter. He's a coward. Then when I'm minding my own business he comes and attacks me. I'm so sorry. I am not that guy. I am a respectful guy.

"I love fighting. I love Dubai, I've been coming here since 2016. I'm standing here minding my own business and he came over and attacked me with his team.

"I've got to defend myself, so I'm sorry about that guys. I am."

The Saturday night fight against Mutie was Till's first since his submission defeat to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282 back in December 2022. He had been set to face off against former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on the Jake Paul v Mike Tyson undercard, only for that bout to be scrapped following the cancellation of the main event.

Paul and Tyson's bout had been scheduled for later this month but was cancelled after it was revealed the latter was medically unfit to fight after an ulcer flare-up.
