Call of Duty series rival set for huge changes as Battlefield Studios announced by EA

Call of Duty has been running unopposed for some time, but Battlefield is back as EA revealed its plans to develop the new title in the long-running shooter series

Battlefield is back, or at least it will be

Call of Duty has had plenty of fun in recent years, but EA has reaffirmed it has big plans for the series' longtime rival, Battlefield.

It's been dormant since 2021's Battlefield 2042 which grew into a pretty great team-based shooter for those that stuck with it (especially after a rough start), but its publisher is putting together a sort of "dream team" to bring Battlefield back.

While Battlefield 2042 saw collaboration from multiple EA studios, the official Battlefield account has released a new video which shows how Motive, Criterion, Ripple Effect and series stewards DICE are now working together under the banner of Battlefield Studios.

EA forms Battlefield Studios

"This global united front combining 20+ years of Battlefield experience with the best emerging talent in our industry is hard at work to shape the future of our franchise. Our ambitions are big, so were going bigger to deliver the best experience for our players.," the video description reads.

"Were still in the early stages of development, but now is the time to test everything our teams have been building for our upcoming launch and beyond. So, we are calling in the big guns our Community. Introducing Battlefield Labs."

Battlefield Labs is available for sign-up now, with players able to test specific parts of the next Battlefield experience.

They added: "This new testing environment is where our players will join forces with BF Studios and help shape the evolution of Battlefield. Youll test combat mechanics, modes, and more, while providing us with crucial feedback in the ultimate collaboration. Your voice will help shape our collective future. Lets build together."

There's not a lot of gameplay in the video but the pre-alpha stuff at the end, which shows buildings falling and large-scale infantry combat, certainly looks impressive.
