New Mario Kart leaks ahead of Switch 2 reveal, but it's not what you're expecting

Forget the Switch 2, we're more keen on this collector-focused Nintendo LEGO set for Mario Kart which is tipped for a May release here's all we know about the set so far

The Nintendo Switch 2 reveal is tiptoeing closer, with April 2 likely to reveal its release date, launch lineup, and pricing.

It appears that's not all Nintendo has cooking, either. The company showed off a Mario Kart title that's currently untitled at the Nintendo Switch reveal in January, but the former plumber's four-wheeled adventures could be getting a push in LEGO form, too.

Ahead of the Switch 2 reveal, a new Mario LEGO set has leaked, and will apparently launch in May. Rather than being just for kids, though, it appears this set is for collectors and grown-ups too.

We wonder if a Blue Shell makes it fall apart?

As spotted by VGC, the Switch 2 isn't the only big release Nintendo is cooking up, with one Australian LEGO site accidentally revealing the LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart - Mario & Standard Kart set (try saying that five times quickly).

"Gear up for a creative adventure with the Mario Kart Mario & Standard Kart (72037) build-and-display model for men, women and any fans," the product listing explains.

"A delightful collectible gamer gift for adults, this Nintendo construction set features a buildable Mario figure with a posable head and arms, sitting behind the wheel of the most iconic Mario Kart vehicle of all. Place the Standard Kart on the special stand, which allows you to show it at a dynamic angle as if it is being driven at speed or drifting in a Mario Kart race."

"This authentically detailed buildable model makes eye-catching LEGO Super Mario dcor in any fans bedroom, living room, game room or office. Find step-by-step instructions in the box or on the LEGO Builder app to guide your immersive building experience. The set is 1,972 pieces, and measures over 8.5 inches in height, with a length of 12.5 inches. While there are already LEGO Mario Kart sets, this marks a departure as it's less focused on play features and more for collectors and displays.

There aren't any other sets listed at present, but here's hoping for Luigi, Toad, and Peach in the future. That'd prove costly, though it's listed for AU$249.99 in AUS, which translates to just over 122 in the UK.
