Nintendo Switch 2 fans baffled as Metroid Prime poster seen with shock release date on Tube

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond does not yet have a release date, which is why many fans are very confused about the advertising spotted overnight at London Tube's Oxford Circus station

Nintendo Switch 2 owners are in meltdown and very confused. The chaos comes after a giant advert was spotted on the London Underground for a game called Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

The game is slated for release this year, but the huge poster actually says that the game is out now . . . which it isn't according to the Nintendo online store. The poster was spotted in Oxford Circus, and has been verified as real by several commuters after images of it went viral on Reddit.

However, some eagle-eyed gamers on social media were quick to point out that the word now on the out now on the poster has a bigger background than the word out, leading some to believe that this is just a simple mistake.

The theory being mooted is that a separate sticker saying 2025 was meant to be over the word now, which would then be ripped off once the game had launched.

The Daily Star has reached out to Nintendo for a comment on this, so we'll all just have to speculate until confirmation comes from them.

On the original source of the chaos, Reddit, one user said: Probably meant to cover it with 'coming soon' which would then be removed and replaced for the date and then that would be removed at release.

Another said: We would get promotional standees and posters for movies all the time when I managed a theatre. If it got delayed the studio would send a blend in sticker to cover the date up with the new one.

A third added: Nintendo like to release a game a month and they have 6 games announced to still be coming this year. DK is coming in July and Pokemon is October. This leaves Metroid, Hyrule Warriors, DragXDrive and Kirby Air Riders to fill in August, September, November and December. This assumes no delays.

If I were to guess Id say Kirby may be first week December since we know the least about. Metroid may be August, with DragXDrive in September and Hyrule Warriors in November. Otherwise Metroid is November.

And a hopeful fourth user said: Imagine if next time we get news about the game, instead of giving us a release date they just shadow drop it.

One can dream . . .
