Persona 5 Scramble UK and US release date: Is P5R spin-off game coming West?

The sort-of sequel to Persona 5 has already been released in Japan but when can we expect the game to make its way West?

Persona 5 is one of the most highly rated games of this console generation, and it's revamped re-release on PS4 Persona 5 Royal is currently one of the best-rated games on MetaCritic.

Capitalising on the success of the game, publisher Atlus has also released another title set in the same game world called Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers.

The release which has so far only been launched in Japan is a hack and slash role-playing spin off developed by Omega Force and P-Studio that arrived on both the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

If you've ever played a Dynasty Warriors game, you'll feel at home with Scramble: it's basically a mix of Koei Tecmo's enduring action series and Persona. What's not to love!

Set six months after the events of Persona 5, the game actually acts more as a sequel than a spin-off, per se it follows Joker his ragtag bunch of miscreants as they investigate more supernatural phenomena across the whole country of Japan.

It was released in Japan on February 20, 2020 but when is it coming West?

Well, Atlus has not said anything official about a Western release of the game... yet.

According to Persona Central on Twitter, though, a survey posted at the end of March 2020 asked eager gamers: "How interested would you be in purchasing Persona 5 Scramble if it were to be released in the West?"

Considering the series has been very well received, and Persona 5 Royal is now one of the best-rated games available on PS4, we'd be surprised to see if the developer and publisher opted for a release date any later than 2021 .

That way, the game would land on PS4 whilst people are still excited about the console before the PS5 steals its thunder and there should still be enough momentum left over for players that purchased Persona 5 Royal for the series to capitalise on the hype.
