Pokemon TCG's next two sets are a double-whammy to celebrate Black and White

The Pokemon Trading Card Game train shows no signs of slowing down, and while we get closer to Destined Rivals, The Pokemon Company has announced Black Bolt and White Flare

The Pokemon trading card game has never been more popular in the UK, but it's never seen a new set (or sets) quite like this on our shores.

While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Destined Rivals, the upcoming set which incorporates Heat Wave Arena and The Glory of Team Rocket will launch at the end of this month, The Pokemon Company has revealed not one, but two sets for July.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Black Bolt and White Flare will debut this Summer in the form of a dual set. That's something we've seen in Japan before, but for the first time ever UK players can collect both sets at the same time without waiting for them to be bundled together.

As the name of each side of the set suggests, Pokemon Black and White are the focus here, with all 156 Pokemon from the Unova region included to celebrate the generation's fifteenth anniversary.

It will also debut a new 'Black and White Rare' rarity, which will offer card illustrations on a monochromatic black or white design.

"Scarlet & VioletBlack Bolt will feature the Legendary Pokmon Zekrom, while Scarlet & VioletWhite Flare will feature the Legendary Pokmon Reshiram," a press release explains.

"Each expansion will include three different parallel foil sets, two of which will feature either a rainbow Pok Ball or Master Ball pattern shimmering across the card."

"Furthermore, players can look forward to collecting new cards with features last seen in the Black & White Series, including cards that will feature a nostalgic foil pattern and Basic Energy cards featuring the original Black & White Series designs."

Each set will have its own Elite Trainer Box design, Binder Collection, and a series of Mini Tins that include one booster pack from each.

Both Black Bolt and White Flare will arrive on July 18, 2025, but you can start crafting decks a day earlier on Pokemon TCG Live.

Here's hoping the sets are easier to get a hold of than Destined Rivals.
