The PS Plus 'Essential' tier tends to lack the bigger releases of the more expensive Extra and Premium tiers, but this year it's been well worth the investment.
While fans were less than impressed with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and Payday 3, we also got Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Robocop Rogue City.
Now, one leak has suggested Sony is preparing to drop a PS5 console exclusive onto the service, and if true, it'll be a real treat for horror fans that didn't vibe with last month's Texas Chainsaw Massacre Offering.
Given these titles are logged to your collection permanently (unlike the Extra and Premium titles), fans will have been delighted to get a hefty RPG to play through.
Naturally, eyes are now on May 2025's lineup, and while fans have lofty expectations after last month, we know when Sony will reveal the new games. Here's the PS Plus Essential reveal time for May 2025.
The PS Plus Essential Games for May will be revealed on Wednesday, April 30, at 4:30PM UK time - so we're almost there.
Usually, the games go free in the store on the first Tuesday of the month, so we expect you'll be able to download them by around 10am on Tuesday, May 4.
This month, eagle-eyed fans spotted that the Until Dawn Remake, which launched in 2024 as PS5 and PC exclusive, has been marked as being included in PlayStation Plus despite no communication to suggest that would be the case.
It's perfect timing, too, since the Until Dawn movie just launched in recent days.
Don't forget, once the new games join the roster, the last month's will cycle out and go back to full price. Be sure to add these to your library!
As a reminder, here's what the PlayStation Blog had to say about each:
