Death Stranding 2 is set to be one of the biggest and weirdest video game launches this year when it arrives next week.

If you've yet to experience the Hideo Kojima directed first game ( which came to Xbox not that long ago ), there's never been a better time.

That's because although the Steam Summer Sale is arriving next week, one early discount marks a great discount on this formerly PS4-exclusive classic.

Here's how you can save on one of the most unique games of the last decade and get ready for what is sure to be a mind-bending sequel.

Over on Steam, the Director's Cut of Death Stranding is reduced from 34.99 down to just 13.99. That's a huge saving for a game packed with things to see or do.

Those who purchase the Director's Cut will also receive a digital art book by Titan Books, along with in-game items such as Backpack Patches, the gold and silver Bridges Special Delivery Team Suit, the golden BB pod customisation, plus gold and silver Power Gloves.

What is Death Stranding? It's harder to explain than those bonuses.

Hideo Kojima's latest incorporates asynchronous multiplayer that means you'll find items left by other players in their world as you work to deliver packages in a post-apocalypse.

As you'd expect from Kojima, nothing is straightforward, and things get pretty bonkers. Its themes of reconnecting the world feel timeless, however, particularly given the COVID pandemic.

The game's cast includes Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelson, Troy Baker and more.

The sequel, titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, is set to launch on June 26, exclusively for PS5.
