Package holidays abroad are currently cheaper than last year, new data finds. Like-for-like holidays to Turkey, Egypt, the Canary islands and Spain are 110 cheaper on average than a year ago despite the war in Iran causing havoc in hotspots.
Travel firm On The Beach price matched more than 11,500 deals in April and found package holidays are bucking Britains inflation trend.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is set to rise but the price of holidays departing in May, June and July are almost 10% cheaper than last year.
Caspar Nelson, holiday expert at On the Beach, said: Every day prices seem to be going up, petrol, energy and mortgages to name a few.
But in April, deals for holidays departing in the next three months are cheaper than last year.
This is a rare, sunny spot for consumers right now and our advice is quite simple, now is the right time to book and lock in your price.
Take advantage of these deals while they are still working in your favour.
The retailer compared current April deals with the exact same holidays a year ago, including the same flights, hotels, board basis, hold bags and passengers.
Thousands of deals came in cheaper, including holidays to Turkey, Egypt, the Canary islands and Spain.
The biggest saving was for deals to Turkey in May, which come in 16% cheaper on average, and Egypt and Spain were up to 13% cheaper.
Turkey and Egypt were also coming in low for June and July with holidays, averaging 9% less than the exact same deals as last year.
