Lesser-known European city with 70p pints, natural beauty and 26 return flights

Brno, in the Czech Republic, boasts museums, theatres, parks and restaurants. It also promises plenty of vibrant nightlife and some incredibly cheap beer from 70p a pint

Brits looking for a fun holiday destination can check out the Czech Republic.

While Prague is known as both a cultural holiday hotspot and a great location for stag dos, the second largest city in Czechia is also a fantastic choice for tourists it was even named one of the cheapest European cities for beer.

The city has the perfect blend of historical sites and modern amenities to make an excellent destination for solo travellers, couples and even families. The city is over a thousand years old so theres plenty to explore and you can find flights from 26 for a return on Skyscanner.

When you touch down in pretty Brno, theres lots to see and do. You can explore pilberk Castle a medieval fortress turned into a museum, to learn all about times gone by.

The Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul is another architectural gem. While there are lots of museums and theatres to visit too. The Villa Tugendhat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is another architectural gem worth a visit.

The Moravian Museum, housed in Dietrichstein Palace, is a must-visit for history buffs covering archaeology, history, natural history, and ethnography while the Brno City Museum offers insights into the city's urban development and the Technical Museum features exhibits on transportation, engineering, and telecommunications, with fun interactive displays and demonstrations.

The 19th Century National Theatre has shows including opera, drama, ballet, and classical music. The HaDivadlo theatre is more modern showing contemporary drama and plays by emerging new playwrights.

During the day, you can also enjoy the gorgeous parks of Brno. pilberk Park and Lunky Park are perfect for a slow stroll, picnic or reading in the sunshine. While nearby Moravian Karst will drop jaws with its breathtaking natural beauty including limestone caves and gorges.

The city also often hosts festivals and events covering film, music and art. Theres also the Ignis Brunensis fireworks competition coming up in May which is great for those who love a show-stopping night out. The beer is great value too with PintPrice putting the average cost at a tiny 70p.

Brits after a drink when theyve finished sightseeing can enjoy the healthy nightlife of Brno which has lots of bars, pubs and clubs. Alternatively, try some traditional Czech cuisine at local restaurants from sweet pastries like trdelnk to goulash.

My personal favourite is Kulajda a dill and mushroom soup complete with poached egg. Meals in the city are well priced with a cheap dish costing around 5.78, according to Hiker's Bay.
