St Ives, Robin Hood's Bay and Padstow are among the nation's most cherished spots, boasting awe-inspiring views. A survey of 2,000 adults revealed that other favourite coastal locations include the South Downs' expansive 100-mile stretch of scenic vistas and Weymouth's Georgian seafront.
The top 30 list also features Pembrokeshire's limestone cliff haven Lydstep, Devon's yachting hotspot Salcombe, and Berwick, a seaside town in the North East. The research found more than two thirds believe coastal views on home soil easily rival those found abroad.
The study, commissioned by Haven, found that when holidaying in the UK, eight out of 10 people consider accommodation with a sea view important, with 35 percent deeming it essential.
Simon Palethorpe, CEO at Haven, commented: "You don't need to go far from home to get picture postcard views and scenery.
"Our parks are on some of Britain's most stunning beaches and coastlines making them a great base for exploring the local area and enjoying the seaside.
"There's nothing better than starting and ending your day with a sunrise and sunset view over the sea - even more so when it's on home soil. Brits are still so surprised by the breathtaking coastline we have in the UK."
According to the research, holidaymakers are willing to travel an average of 159 miles from home for a seaside break and the majority of people also prepared to pay extra for such a coastal view.
The top reasons for being open to paying more for a sea view were for the feeling of relaxation and sense of escapism it brings, with research showing being by the coast is beneficial for both mental and physical health.
Further reasons to holiday in the UK rather than another country were to avoid airport stress and delays, more flexibility with dates and duration and to take pets.
