There are plenty of rules when flying that most of us are warned about.

Lots of advice is mentioned during the pre-flight safety announcements or on the instructional cards in the pocket of the seat in front of you.

These include not wearing high heels on planes because they can puncture the inflatable slides that help passengers exit the aircraft during an emergency.

But, a travel expert recently mentioned that theres another item of clothing she would never wear to fly.

Aviation pro Christine Negroni claims that wearing leggings or yoga pants could put your life at risk.

She told the Sun : "You might have to escape through a cabin fire or there could be a separate fire on the ground once you leave the aircraft.

"Everyone is wearing yoga pants on planes now, but I avoid all artificial fibres because they are more likely to burn and stick to you if there is a fire.

"Id advise wearing cotton clothes or anything made of natural fibres."

It makes sense when you think about it!

So, instead of wearing leggings consider wearing linen or cotton palazzo pants or joggers it could prevent you from suffering with serious scarring in the worst case scenario of an accident.

And, leggings arent the only think travel pros have warned people to avoid.

Flight attendants and pilots recently explained that you should never wear flip flops on the aircraft.

Tony Kuna, wrote on Quora: During an emergency, all sorts of debris and unpleasant ground surfaces will block your way towards the exit, as well as outside the aircraft."

If your feet [arent] properly covered, you'll have a hard time making your way to safety.

"Imagine destroying your bare feet as your run down the aisle covered with broken glass, fires and metal shards. Kind of like John McClane in Die Hard, but worse.

And a pilot said you should wear something sturdy and suitable for running for [your] life.

They added: Why? Because evacuating a burning aircraft while bare-foot or wearing flip-flops is stupid.

And, while its not dangerous, cabin crew member Tommy Cimato claimed wearing shorts could put you at risk.

He said: Dont or try not to wear shorts when you're on an airplane.

You never know how clean it's going to be, so if you have pants, you're going to have less germs.
