England are set to take on their biggest match since winning the 1966 World Cup final at Wembley but BBC Breakfast viewers are fed on the coverage.
During Wednesday's (July 15) episode of the popular morning show, Sally Nugent and Jon Kay returned to our screens as they delivered the day's leading stories from across the UK and internationally.
With England set to face Argentina in today's World Cup semi-final, It came as little shock that the match featured prominently on Breakfast, but viewers at home claimed they were forced to "mute" their televisions as football coverage took over the programme.
Throughout the broadcast, there were numerous segments centred around the forthcoming clash, reports the Mirror.
Sally and Jon welcomed former England skipper Alan Shearer, who had previously faced Argentina at the World Cup in France in 1998, onto the show via video link.
The footballing legend didn't hesitate to share his views on the eagerly-awaited semi-final taking place in Atlanta.
Additionally, they showed footage of the Royal band performing a tune while another clip featured enthusiastic supporters expressing their backing.
England boss Thomas Tuchel also featured in a pre-recorded chat, while BBC sports correspondent John Watson delivered reports from outside the studio surrounded by youngsters playing football.
This was subsequently followed by further football discussion back in the studio.
With the abundance of football material on display, viewers who had tuned in expressed their irritation across social media. One viewer raged: "OK! .. SO CAN WE NOW SHUT UP UNTIL AFTER THE GAME!" Another remarked: "Got my mute button on #bbcbreakfast."
A third declared: "Please please please let #England lose tonight....the fact i cant turn on the TV without hearing about bloody football."
Meanwhile one added: "Nice of the Beeb to keep reminding us about the footy tonight just in case we forget after ten minutes #BBCBreakfast."
England and Argentina are poised to reignite a legendary World Cup rivalry as both nations clash for a spot in the final.
England skipper Thomas Tuchel slammed his side's display in their quarter-final extra-time triumph over Norway, however star player Jude Bellingham defended the squad in his post-match interview.
"Maybe he (Tuchel) doesn't know what it's like to play in those conditions against (Erling) Haaland, (Martin) Odegaard, (Antonio) Nusa and (Alexander) Sorloth," Bellingham said post-match. "They're not an easy team to play against.
"I can't speak highly enough of the lads. You can't win every game popping the ball and making 1,000 passes, sometimes you have to win dirty and we did that today."
BBC Breakfast airs everyday from 6am on BBC One and iPlayer
