Celebrity Mastermind viewers were left fuming as they voiced the same complaint just minutes into the final episode of the week. BBC host Clive Myrie introduced the latest celebrity guests on Friday night's episode (January 2).
Actor Colson Smith, radio presenter Nadia Jae, comedian Grace Campbell and Blue Peter presenter Joel M took their turns in the infamous black chair.
They answered questions on topics ranging from Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa to the Marvel Avengers films, actor Robin Williams, and illusionist Derren Brown.
Confused viewers quickly took to social media to express their disappointment, claiming they didn't recognise any of the stars apart from Colson Smith, criticising the BBC for the quality of its guests.
One viewer queried: "Apart from PC Tinks from #Corrie, who are these other people masquerading as 'celebrities'?" Another question: "Shot at fame? So an admission of sorts that many of these aren't very famous already."
A third added their voice to the chorus of complaints: "These 'celebrities' just get further and further away from the actual label 'celebrity' every night. What a joke."
Another viewer quipped: "Oh well. They've finally run out of celebrities," while a fifth concurred: "They use the term Celebrity quite loosely, don't they?"
The celebrities found themselves battling with some of the questions, as Nadia Jae managed to scrape together just eight points across both rounds, landing her in fourth place, reports the Express.
Joel M secured 13 points for third position, whilst Colson clinched 14 points for second place, with Grace Campbell claiming victory with a solid 15 points - highlighting just how tight the competition was.
Recent episodes of the programme have triggered a wave of criticism, with viewers slamming the celebrity edition for serving up "dumbed down questions" to the famous faces.
One fan chimed in: "Celebrity Mastermind is a complete waste of licence money." Meanwhile, many fans were pleased to see the show on their TV screens, with another adding, "#CelebrityMastermind is back, thank the lord."
The celebrity spin-off first hit screens back in 2002 and has welcomed numerous household names over the years, including Stephen Fry and Paul O'Grady.
