BBC The Traitors star details 'tiny mistake' that led to brutal banishment

The Traitors star was banished last week on the BBC show in a tense showdown.

Traitors player banished in tied vote

During Monday's episode of BBC Breakfast, Jon Kay and Sally Nugent chatted with The Traitors contestant Amanda after her shocking elimination from the programme last week.

The ex-police officer had left the castle residents baffled about her true allegiance as a Faithful, whilst Rachel, Stephen and Fiona secretly operated as the real Traitors.

When the moment arrived for the round table banishment, both Amanda and Reece found themselves tied with identical vote counts, forcing a second ballot.

Yet as the group hit another deadlock, fate would determine their destiny through a box-picking challenge - whoever selected the container with the shield would remain safe.

Unfortunately for Amanda, Reece inadvertently chose the life-saving box, sealing her departure from the castle. Ironically, his victory proved short-lived as he too was 'murdered' during last week's episodes.

Discussing her departure, Amanda admitted: "I was really sad! I looked at them all, and I thought - when you look at them, and they know you're Faithful, they just think, 'Urgh, we've made a mistake'.

"I thought I'd got people on my side, but if you make one tiny mistake, they leap onto it, and it's like a deck of cards."

When Jon probed about what she considered her crucial error, Amanda acknowledged that she had created confusion amongst the group, reports Wales Online.

She continued: "I just confused them, I gave two names at the same time at the roundtable and they were sort of, 'hang on a minute, you said this person and then you said this person'. Then I voted for Jade, but I said someone else."

Amanda revealed that her blunders caused people to suspect she was a traitor, despite remaining faithful throughout the entire experience.

Referencing her career, Sally observed: "You're like the expert in the castle, you kept getting it wrong!"

The Traitors star responded: "I'm an expert police officer, I'm not an expert on the traitors, so you go into the castle and you think these skills that I've got, they'll translate, but they absolutely did not."

Currently on the BBC programme, the contestants have successfully managed to eliminate two traitors, Hugo and Fiona.

Fiona was initially selected as a 'secret Traitor' - a programme first as her identity remained concealed from viewers during the opening week.

Nevertheless, Fiona was voted out last week following a dramatic confrontation with fellow traitor Rachel.

Speaking to the group at that moment, she declared: "I want to say I haven't had the opportunity to grow to love you but I do like you very, very much.

"I came in here to prove that women of a certain age should be listened to and I feel as if I've been listened to, thank you all for being wonderful, wonderful people. I will never forget you. You may be very surprised to hear that I am, I am a Traitor!"

Both The Traitors and BBC Breakfast are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
