Beverley Callard reveals favourite I'm A Celeb campmates and who 'disappointed' her

EXCLUSIVE: Im A Celeb star Beverley Callard lifts the lid on ITVs All Stars jungle return, revealing her favourite campmates after heading back in for round two

From cobbles to campfires, Beverley Callard is proving shes still got plenty of spark.

The Coronation Street legend, 69, has swapped the soap world for the South African jungle as she takes on I'm a Celebrity... South Africa, and this time she was determined to do things properly. I think I did achieve what I wanted, she tells Daily Star. I wanted the real experience, rather than being frozen to death in Wales. God, that was so hard.

Her first stint in 2020, filmed during the pandemic in a chilly castle, came just months after a hip operation, meaning she had to sit out certain trials. And Beverley admits that really got to her.

That really got to me, she says. Because I will have a go. I might not be very good, but Ill have a go. In Wales there were things I wasnt allowed to do. Now I could do anything. And I did.

Back in camp for All Stars filming, Beverley quickly formed close bonds, especially with her female campmates.

The women on the show, we did get on so well, she says. Scarlett [Moffatt] and I had proper girl chats. I loved her, I felt almost like a mum figure to her. Ashley [Roberts] the same. Im a bit disappointed by Ashley, because she is gorgeous, very funny and warm, and I dont think weve seen enough of her.

She also clicked instantly with Gemma Collins, with plenty of laughter along the way. We were thrown together, but we got on really well and laughed a lot, she adds.

While jungle life brought plenty of highs, Beverley also has her eye on the future and a possible return to one of her most-loved comedy roles.

Oh my God, I would do that, she says of a potential Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps revival. We had the best time. The scripts were so funny and the actors were brilliant. We just laughed all the time.

She looks back fondly on co-stars including Sheridan Smith and Will Mellor. Will Mellor, my cleavage on his head all sorts of things. Id definitely do it again.

Despite being forever linked with Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, Beverley says she has never wanted to repeat herself.

Some of the jobs Ive been offered were just like Liz under another name. I dont want to do that unless its Liz.

Away from acting, Beverley has quietly built a second career as a fitness instructor, something she has done since her teens alongside showbiz work.

I still teach, she says. Ive done it as long as Ive done acting. For years I did it while I was in Coronation Street and nobody knew.

Her fitness DVDs became a surprise hit. My first DVD sold 800,000 copies. It knocked Al Pacino and Robert De Niro off the number one slot. I was amazed.

I love coaching women, she adds. When Im teaching fitness Im just me.

Beverley has also been open about her health after revealing a breast cancer diagnosis in February 2026 on The Late Late Show and undergoing surgery shortly after.

She later said she was awaiting test results due to hospital delays, but returned to work on Fair City, saying staying active helps her mental health, even if she feels knackered and emotional.

From soap queen to jungle grafter, Beverley Callard is still doing what she does best throwing herself into life, one challenge at a time.
