The legacy of Ozzy Osbourne endures as a heartfelt tribute was delivered to the late rock legend at this year's Brit Awards.
The ceremony, taking place in Manchester for the first time, witnessed the Black Sabbath frontman receiving the posthumous Lifetime Achievement award. A supergroup, led by Robbie Williams, brought the evening to a close at the Co-Op Live.
The performance featured the assembled musicians delivering a version of No More Tears, the title track from Ozzy's multi-platinum 1991 album of the same name. Sharon Osbourne assembled the band, which included musicians who had performed alongside Ozzy throughout his career; Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos and Zakk Wylde, whilst being fronted by the former Take That star.
Before the performance, she delivered a tribute to her late husband. "I know that Ozzy is looking down on us right now. I know what he is thinking. He hated speeches...," she said as she addressed the audience, reports the Mirror.
She lauded her husband for his modesty and stated she was accepting the award on his behalf whilst praising the family and his crew. She concluded by declaring: "There will never be another Ozzy f***ing Osbourne and I f***ing love you."
Viewers were split over the moment, as her final remarks were censored. Something she uttered at the beginning was also bleeped out, whilst it was apparent what her concluding censored message contained.
Taking to X, one fan criticised it saying: "It's 23:00 and ITV are censoring Sharon Osbourne accepting an award for her late husband."
Another added: "Sharon Osbourne should not have been censored. That's diabolical. It was well after the watershed."
And: "What are they censoring Sharon osbourne for??? The Brits is never this heavily censored."
Others applauded Sharon's words with one writing: "It's so good to see Sharon Osbourne smiling again! We love you Mrs O."
Others were baffled by the performance, with a viewer writing: "Robbie is such a bizarre choice for an Ozzy tribute."
But some supported it, saying: "Rob actually did a wonderful job there. People need to realise it's what Sharon wanted he's a family friend."
Another said: "Well I loved that Ozzy tribute; Robbie Williams smashed it!"
Robbie was invited personally by Sharon to participate in this special moment, as a long-standing admirer of the music, and friend of the Osbourne family. Prior to the award, there was a moving tribute to Ozzy reflecting on his career.
There was then a message by Dolly Parton who celebrated Ozzy's passion for theatrics. Ozzy passed away aged 76 on July 22 last year, just weeks after he had performed at his Back to the Beginning concert.
