Only recently, Kit's girlfriend Sarah Platt was arrested and put in prison for the murder of Theo Silverton. Earlier this year, Sarah found herself in a confrontation with the evil villain, where she struck him with a metal pipe.

This caused Theo to plummet from the scaffolding to the ground below and he perished from his wounds, leaving Sarah culpable. In a state of alarm, Sarah reached out to her former partner Gary Windass to assist in concealing the crime, to which he consented.

Since then, Sarah admitted to the killing of Theo Silverton following her arrest by police, yet she has kept Gary's name out of proceedings, failing to reveal that he was an accomplice.

Nevertheless, this has enraged police officer Kit, who is romantically involved with Sarah, as he is fully aware that Gary was indeed implicated. After warning Gary to tell the truth, the latter surrendered himself to police, revealing all.

This has now made the situation more complex as Sarah was left livid about Kit going behind her back and she emotionally chose to end things with the police officer.

Sarah told Kit that she loves him but for that very reason, their relationship is finished as she refuses to allow him to destroy his career because of her.

In scenes on Tuesday and Thursday, viewers saw a heartbroken Kit receive a mystery, and a serious sounding, phone call from a woman but he hung up before listening to the full voice message.

Following this, Kit turned to the booze, where he was seen heavily drinking in the Bistro and Victoria Gardens, causing concern amongst local residents.

At the end of Tuesday's episode, it saw Kit ringing back the woman, leaving a message as he confirmed his name and said he would be there.

Taking to social media, viewers have been speculating about what Kit is hiding and some soap watchers have a heartbreaking prediction.

One person said: "Is Kit sick? The person referred to him as his full name then when he called back it was a business with opening hours. Him saying he'll be there could be him confirming an appointment? I get the vibe he may have been drinking to avoid more than just his breakup with Sarah!"

To which another account replied: "I think it will be to do with Paul and the MND perhaps he needs a test and he is nervous. I honestly think this is just an excuse for him and Bethany to get closer."

Elsewhere, a different fan put: "I think theres more to it but not sure what. Sarah only broke up with him the day before and he seemed a mess so doubt hed have had time to apply for a new job in that space of time. Maybe hes ill and thats another reason hes drinking. Seemed official to call him Christopher and not Kit or DC Green."
