A update on Yasmeen Nazir has been shared in Coronation Street, and it doesn't look like she'll be returning any time soon.
ITV soap viewers will know that Yasmeen (played by Shelley King) was a resident at number six and co-owner of Speed Daal, along with her granddaughter, Alya (Sair Khan).
Yasmeen moved into the street back in 2014, along with her first husband Sharif (Marc Anwar), their widowed son Kal (Jimi Mistry), and grandchildren Alya and Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar).
She was later left alone after Kal was tragically killed in the Victoria Court fire in 2015, just a year before Yasmeen kicked Sharif out over his seven-year affair with her friend Sonia Rahman (Sudha Bhuchar).
After Zeedan moved to London, Yasmeen began working at Speed Daal as a cook and bought a share in 2019. She married Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) the same year, but the marriage was far from blissful.
Geoff was abusive behind closed doors, leading Yasmeen to stab him in the neck out of desperation. She was quickly charged with attempted murder and was remanded in custody, but was later found not guilty.
Since Geoff's death, Yasmeen has tried to get her life back on track, leading to her decision to leave the street to volunteer at a modern slavery charity in London last year.
Ahead of her depature, Yasmeen notably sold her shares in Speed Daal to Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), who currently runs the restaurant with Alya.
But it looks like Leanne will soon have another partner in the business. During Monday's (August 10) episode, which is now streaming on ITVX, Alya revealed to Leanne that she was planning on selling her share of Speed Daal, as she struggled to balance the business with her legal work.
She then shared an update on her grandmother, who was likely to be devastated by Alya's decision to sell up.
"I want to sell my share of the business," Alya revealed to Leanne, who was visibly surprised.
"It's partly my fault. Alya's been running herself ragged working at the solicitors and trying to keep this place going at the same time. It's too much for her," Alya's boyfriend, Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), explained.
Alya went on: "He's right. And I've spoken to my gran about it. Obviously, she's a little bit disappointed, but she's put me in contact with an old friend of hers who might be interested in making us an offer."
Addressing her uncle, Idris (Junade Khan), Alya added: "I know that we talked about if I was ever to sell, you had some contacts who might be interested, but gran goes way back with this bloke, and she was pretty insistent that I get in touch with him."
Alya showed the prospective buyer around Speed Daal on Tuesday (August 11), but could Idris impact the sale?
Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
