Soap fans have been asking is Coronation Street on tonight after another ITV schedule shake-up.
The Manchester-based soap typically airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV, episodes are also available to watch from 7am on ITVX.
However, on Friday 7 August, Corrie was replaced by the EFL Cup Live, where it was Middlesbrough v Wrexham with kick-off at 8pm. The football coverage aired from 7:30pm to past 10pm.
This unfortunately meant that there was no episode that night or early release episode on ITVX due to the football replacing that night's coverage. This was the same for Emmerdale, which typically airs Monday to Friday at 8pm on ITV.
However, in good news, the soaps return to screens tonight on Sunday (August 9), with Coronation Street airing an hour earlier than usual at 7.30pm, with Emmerdale following suit at 7.00pm.
It comes as speaking previously of the new "power hour" of soaps, Kevin Lygo, director of television at ITV, said: "The new commissioning pattern is viewer-led.
"We already give more choice than ever to viewers on how they watch us through ITVX and we want to present their favourite soap to them in the most digestible way.
"In a world where there is so much competition for viewers' time and attention, and viewing habits continue to change, we believe this is the right amount of episodes that fans can fit into their viewing schedule to keep up to date with the shows.
"Research insights also show us that soap viewers are increasingly looking to the soaps for their pacey storytelling. Streaming-friendly, 30-minute episodes better provide the opportunity to meet viewer expectations for storyline pace, payoff and resolution."
Tonight's episode sees Sarah Platt struggle in prison as a tough looking inmate shoots her daggers before Bethany Platt visits her mum in prison, shocked by her bruised face.
Meanwhile, Tim Metcalfe panics when Sally Metcalfe comes home from her holiday early after he hosted a party at the house with estranged cousin Richie. Things go from bad to worse when Richie's wife throws him out and he asks for a place to stay... before a murder twist later in the week.
Elsewhere, Alya Nazir struggles with a stressful shift at Speed Daal to which Idris Nazir reminds Alya that his offer still stands and hed happily buy her share of the restaurant.
