EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt has been a familiar face on British TV for more than four decades but away from Albert Square, the actor has had his fair share of dramatic moments too.
The 58-year-old has played Ian Beale since EastEnders first launched in February 1985, when he was just 16 years old, making him one of the soap's longest-serving stars.
On screen, Ian has become famous for his turbulent love life, having been married six times to five different women. While he remains officially single, he's recently struck up a romance with Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) after the pair grew close while campaigning to become local councillors.
Elaine is the former wife of George Knight (Colin Salmon), who was also married to Ian's ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins). But Ian's future has taken a dark turn after he was left facing prison for accidentally knocking over Jordan Fox (Jahsaiah Williams) with his car before leaving him for dead.
As Ian's latest storyline unfolds, here's a look at Adam's life away from Walford.
Adam, who was born in Walthamstow, East London, was married to Beverley Sharp for 22 years before the couple announced their split in August 2020.
The pair tied the knot at Disney World in Florida in 1998 and share two children, Jessica and Samuel.
At the time, a BBC spokesperson said: "Beverley and Adam separated in August 2019, and we ask that the family's privacy is respected."
Although the separation wasn't made public until a year later, the marriage had already ended and both Adam and Beverley confirmed there was no third-party involvement.
The pair reportedly finalised their divorce in 2022 after reaching a settlement, with Adam yet to go public with another relationship.
Following the split, Adam swapped the family home for a 93,000 motorhome.
Originally bought for a theatre tour around the UK while taking a break from EastEnders, the luxury vehicle became his permanent home after the separation.
Speaking to Dublin FM's Big Breakfast in 2022, Adam said: "I've not just purchased it, I live in it."
When asked how he found living in the motorhome, he joked: "It's usually where I left it parked."
Despite the unusual lifestyle, Adam insisted it suited him perfectly.
"I love it, it wouldn't suit everyone, but where I am in my life at the moment, it's perfect for me. I've got all my stuff for cooking, I've got my house on wheels."
Adam's son Samuel also made a surprise appearance in EastEnders in 2020.
Playing a police officer, Samuel arrested his father's character Ian Beale before escorting him to a police car outside The Queen Vic.
The casting decision also helped the production comply with strict COVID filming rules, allowing the father and son to share physical contact on screen without social distancing concerns.
Samuel had previously battled back from a serious accident in 2016 after being hit by a car.
Just months later, he recovered well enough to run the London Marathon alongside Adam, with the pair raising 6,500 for the London Air Ambulance in thanks for the care he received.
In 2025, Samuel returned to acting, taking on the role of James in the film Sriracha.
