EastEnders icon Lacey Turner finally agrees to Strictly after years of turning offers down

EastEnders legend Lacey Turner is reportedly in the process of joining the next series of Strictly Come Dancing as she continues to take a break from the BBC Soap.

The actress, 38, has played iconic character Stacey Slater for 22 years but is currently on an extended break from Albert Square to spend some quality family time with her three young children Dusty Violet, six, Trilby Fox, four, and Gipsy Olive, one.

And despite previously turning down Strictly offers, Lacey is keen to tackle the challenge and learn a new skill before she eventually reprises her role as Stacey sometime later this year.

A source told The Sun: "Strictly bosses are delighted to snap Lacey up for the series, especially as she has such a huge fan base from her time on the soap.

"Shes down to earth and viewers will be excited to get to know her personality away from Albert Square.

She has loved having some quality time off screen to focus on parenting, but feels like now is the perfect time to learn to dance and try something different before she reprises her role in EastEnders."

The Our Girl actress, previously turned down the ballroom series, speaking in 2017 she said: "I have been asked to go on Strictly but Im rubbish at dancing and I dont really have the guts.

"I think its a great show to do, though, as you learn a new skill."

Lacey will be one of the first contestants to star in the series with the brand new presenting line-up after it was announced that TV star Emma Willis, comedian Josh Widdicombe and professional dancer Johannes Radebe will replace hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Many EastEnders stars have had success on Strictly in the past including Rose Ayling-Ellis who win in 2021, Bobby Brazier, Emma Barton, Maisie Smith and Kellie Bright all of which reached the final in their series.
