EastEnders devotees are convinced that Joel Marshall will evade justice for his assault on Vicki Fowler, after noticing a significant hint.
Earlier this week, Vicki (Alice Haig) was heartbroken to discover that Joel (Max Murray) intended to plead not guilty to her attack, a revelation that sent her into a downward spiral.
Following a frightening encounter with a married man named Damon, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) swooped in to save the day and rescue Vicki. The pair grew closer and shared an unexpected smooch, only to be caught by Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).
In Wednesday's episode of the BBC soap (November 19), wayward teen Joel made a return to our screens after being arrested and held on remand for assaulting Vicki.
Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) paid his son a visit at the young offenders institute and was immediately alarmed to see Joel sporting a black eye, reports OK!.
Joel felt hopeful when Ross assured him he would do anything to help. However, the atmosphere quickly soured when Ross suggested that Joel admit guilt for the crime and take responsibility for his actions.
Feeling betrayed that his father wasn't prepared to fight for his freedom, Joel's situation worsened when Ross detailed how much Vicki was suffering post-attack.
Ross also informed Joel about Vicki's run-in with Damon at The Queen Vic and her tendency to meddle in other people's affairs.
EastEnders viewers were absolutely livid with Ross' comments and reckon he's just handed his son a get-out-of-jail-free card, with many predicting Joel will now plead self-defence during his trial following Vicki's recent altercations.
Fans flocked to X to vent their frustration, with one viewer posting: "#EastEnders If only Vicki knew here that Ross has thrown fuel in the fire by telling Joel about Vicki's outburst in the Vic. This is going to give Joel ammunition now to paint Vicki as the violent one in court."
Another declared: "#EastEnders Ross has just given his incel son a defence."
A third weighed in: "Ross as usual has just made things ten times worse for Vicki, now Joel can just say Vicky attacked him first #EastEnders."
"Ross is so dumb #Eastenders", slammed one viewer, whilst another fumed: "Why are you feeding Joel info? Argh Ross #EastEnders."
One baffled fan questioned: "Why tf is Ross giving Joel all this ammunition against Vicky? How thick could you be?".
EastEnders airs weekdays between Monday and Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer
