An EastEnders star has candidly revealed he is currently out of work after walking away from Albert Square.

Matthew James Morrison, who played Felix Baker on the BBC soap for three years, admitted he has no new job lined up after finishing a theatre tour. Matthew made the confession during a tarot card reading on the Missleighdingfortunes podcast, hosted by drag queen Miss Leigh Ding.

The 35-year-old joined EastEnders in 2022 as Felix, who also performed as drag queen Tara Misu, before his character was written out in 2025. Speaking about what happened after leaving the soap, Matthew said: I finished EastEnders and I thought you know, maybe something will come, maybe something might not come.

For a lot of people whove left the show since I started, some of them have worked, some of them havent worked.

Matthew explained that he did manage to land theatre work after leaving Walford, including a show in Greenwich in south-east London, followed by another stage production.

But after wrapping up his latest project, he admitted he has found himself staring at an uncertain future.

This is the first time since really leaving EastEnders I finished the tour over a week ago and I dont have anything lined up, he said.

It feels like I am stood in the desert just being like what do I do next?

The actor then turned to Miss Leigh Ding for some guidance about where his career could go next, with suggestions ranging from learning how to ride a horse to mastering a new accent.

Matthew's EastEnders exit came after bosses decided it was time to bring Felix's Walford story to an end.

A source previously said: Its never an easy decision for bosses when they have to make the decision for a character to leave.

Matthew has been great, but bosses felt the time was right to say goodbye to Felix.

Matthew first appeared in EastEnders in 2019 as part of the Baker family, arriving in Walford alongside his dad Avery and brother Finlay.

Avery died just weeks after arriving, while Finlay was later axed after a year.

Matthew returned permanently in 2022 as Felix and quickly made history as the soap's first ever drag queen character through Tara Misu.

At the time, Matthew said: I am blessed to have the opportunity to step into the heels of the fierce Tara Misu as part of my role on EastEnders.

Its a privilege to represent the LGBTQIA+ community and to showcase the creative art of drag to both viewers at home and the residents of Walford.

Felix later became a barman at The Albert as his storylines took more of a backseat.
