A handbag carried by Ellie Chadwick around the Love Island villa has just sold at auction.

Devotees of the ITV2 reality sensation had the chance to bag themselves a selection of clothing and accessories worn by the Love Island cast past and present in a live auction that took place tonight (July 16).

Presented by Olivia Attwood, the eBay Live event showcased pre-loved garments worn by Islanders throughout Series 13 as well as previous seasons. Amongst the lots up for grabs were a pair of GANNI cowboy boots worn by Tasha Ghouri as well as a floor-length Jaded London dress sported by Angelista Gunda.

During the bidding war, presenter Olivia was accompanied by some recognisable faces including Series 12 Islander Conor Phillips and even Pauline Bonsu, who is best-known as the face of the eBay Love Island adverts where she delivers the iconic line "You're just too... clingy."

While numerous items at the auction went for around 100 or under, one specific accessory commanded far more. That piece was the Prada wicker handbag flaunted by Ellie early on in the series which fetched 1,900, reports OK! Before Ellie showcased it in Season 13, it was also seen on Series 12 runner-up, Shakira Khan.

The winning offer came from an account bearing the name of Gogglebox star Joe Baggs, which captured the attention of Olivia and her co-stars in the studio who encouraged him to splash out on the designer item.

The telly personality had previously shared on his Instagram Stories that he was watching the auction, so he's thought to be the bag's delighted new famous owner. Nevertheless, he hasn't yet commented on or confirmed his fresh acquisition publicly.

Given no other Islander was lugging a handbag about the villa this year, Ellie became an internet sensation for her commitment to carrying one. Her devotion to the Prada bag specifically was noticed by viewers, with some even creating fan edits of the handbag lounging around the villa.

Many had wondered what on earth she could possibly be carting about which she finally revealed in a Beach Hut confession featured on Love Island: Unseen Bits.

"Obviously you got to have your hair clip, for when you want to put your hair up, when you're at the beach, we love a hair clip, and this one is a little flower and it's cute," she began.

"Then lip balm, for when the lips are nice and moisturised, we have my lip combo, staple in the handbag. But there is a lot more in here, and it's really getting heavy."

Love Island airs Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
