Emmerdale fans may not know Laura Norton's co-star fianc was married to Happy Valley icon

Emmerdale star Laura Norton has played Kerry Wyatt on the ITV soap for nearly 15 years.

Laura Norton famously found love on the set of the ITV soap opera Emmerdale and is now engaged with two children.

She has portrayed Kerry Wyatt on the show since 2012, and the character is never far from drama in the quiet Yorkshire village. But off-screen, romance blossomed between Laura and her co-star Mark Jordan, who portrayed Daz Spencer on the soap.

In June 2014, Daz arrived in the Dales as the brother of Dan Spencer (Liam Fox), who was due to marry Kerry, and drama quickly ensued. Daz kissed his brother's fiance, leading to a massive fallout that lasted years. It was also revealed that Daz had lied about his military service and had been booted out of the army.

In a huge twist, he was also confirmed to be the biological father of Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell). Daz was last seen in the village in December 2024 as part of Amelia's exit storyline from the soap, The Mirror.

Mark Jordan is renowned for his role as PC Phil Bellamy in ITV's police series Heartbeat between 1992 and 2007, and for the character also making brief appearances in the medical drama The Royal.

The 61-year-old also featured in the original series of All Creatures Great and Small and appeared in other well-loved television programmes, including recent hit The Long Shadow, as well as Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Doctors and Casualty.

Mark met Laura on the set of Emmerdale after his divorce, with the pair becoming friends before entering a romantic relationship.

Speaking on Loose Women in 2020 about their relationship, Laura explained: "When we first told each other we liked each other we just went, 'Shall we just leave it? Shall we just stay as friends? It's probably best'. So, it was months after we actually told each other."

Mark explained: "We were really good friends. We kept re-examining the question and eventually it was a bit more of a question."

Talking about their first official date, he added: "It didn't go brilliantly, but nevertheless, that was a sign of our life", before Laura joked: "That set the tone from the rest of our relationship."

Laura and Mark got engaged towards the end of 2018, before welcoming their baby son, Jesse, in January 2021. The couple later welcomed their daughter, Ronnie, into the world in 2022.

In February 2023, Laura and Mark revealed to the public that both of their children had been diagnosed with Usher Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects both hearing and vision.

Before meeting Laura, Mark was married to Happy Valley and Benidorm star Siobhan Finneran for 17 years. They tied the knot in August 1997, after appearing together on the set of ITV drama Heartbeat.

Mark and Siobhan went on to have two children, a daughter named Poppy and a son named Jordan.

Talking about their romance back in 2001, Mark told The Mirror: "She's just so lovely. We met when I was 20, and she was a bezzie, bezzie mate for years. We didnt realise that half of our fun was flirtatious."

Mark proposed to Siobhan during a special trip to London. He hired a limousine and got down on one knee in front of Harrod while playing her favourite music, and she said "yes".

However, after 17 years of marriage, the pair divorced in 2014. Siobhan has been in a relationship with Death in Paradise actor Don Gile since 2018.
