Emmerdale fans are convinced they've spotted "chemistry" between newcomer DS Ramsden and one of the villagers.
It was revealed this week that Death in Paradise actress Chelsea Edger has joined the cast of the ITV soap as a new police officer who will investigate the death of Dr Caitlin Todd.
Ramsden appeared for the first time during Tuesday's (August 11) episode, arresting Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) for murder as she investigates the possibility of foul play in Dr Todd's death.
Fans are aware Sarah pushed Todd, but her grandmother Charity is taking the blame and claiming she did it.
Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) is currently the only other person who knows that it was Sarah, not Charity, who accidentally killed Dr Todd.
She walked into the house shortly after everything happened and helped Sarah and Charity get their stories straight.
During's Friday's (August 14) episode, Serena was called into the police station to give a statement after Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardiwkc) mentioned her in her statement.
In the statement, Serena said she saw Vanessa shouting at Dr Todd as she was getting into her that she heard Vanessa say "this isn't over".
However, DS Ramsden told Serena that she knew she wasn't telling the truth, asking: "Why did you lie in your statement?"
After Ramsden said she couldn't tell Serena if her statement matched all the other witness statements, Serena said: "I'll tell you. It matches every other statement."
Ramsden said it was because the witnesses checked in with each other, but Serena insisted it was because it was true.
"It's not," said Ramsden, adding: "Whatever you're hiding, I will find out." A nervous Serena left the police station, but with Ramsden breathing down her neck, will she be exposed?
Fans watching at home were left distracted by the tense scene between the two women, with some suggesting the pair should hook up.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, One fan penned: "Put DS Ramsden & Serena together. #emmerdale." Another posted: "DS Ramsden and Serena with a flame emoji" and someone else replied: "Chemistry!!!".
Elsewhere in latest episode, Charity told a devastating lie after Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb) jumped to conclusions, theorising that Charity killed Dr Todd on purpose and was lying about it being self-defence.
However, instead of correcting Mack, Charity went along with the false version of events in an attempt to protect Sarah.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
