Theres been lots of drama in Emmerdale recently, and three characters have found themselves at the forefront of it all, with everything building up to a very explosive wedding episode.
Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) was all set to marry Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) until her ex-husband Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) was attacked and left for dead, ending up in a coma. All the evidence points to Joe, and Dawn becomes convinced that hes responsible.
For the sake of Billy and their three children, Dawn decides the only thing she can do is run away and leave Joe and the village.
Olivia Bromley, who has played Dawn on the soap since 2018, says: From my perspective, Dawn shouldve chosen Billy all along.
Hes very stable, hes so loving, hes always loved her and was a wonderful dad.
Dawn married Billy in 2022 but their wedding was hijacked by serial killer Meena who held them both hostage. The pair did eventually manage to get married and were happy together with their three children: Lucas, Clemmie and Evan. Things were all going well for them but then Joe returned to our screens and havoc ensued.
Dawn and Joe started to have an affair behind Billy's back and she eventually decided to leave him, a decision that Olivia doesn't agree with: We dont always choose the person whos the right person for us.
Shes absolutely addicted to Joe and she just constantly chooses him even though its not the right thing for her.
Olivia says she would tell Dawn, Would I advise her differently? Yeah! But she doesnt make the choices that Id necessarily make.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Olivia said: I think Billy and Dawn work really well together and they always did. They were from similar worlds and understood each other on a different level.
Jay Kontzle, who plays Billy, says: Billy just wants Dawn back ultimately.
Joe taking Dawn from him, I dont think hes ever got over it.
Viewers have seen Dawn defend Joe through a lot, including a stolen kidney, 3 deaths and framing Moira for human-trafficking but Olivia says that him attacking Billy is her final straw: [Billy] has been attacked and she thinks its Joe, and this is the person that she has sacrificed everything for, and he has attacked the father of her kids and shes just absolutely devastated.
She has defended him and defended him for so long that shes got to the point where shes like ok Im such an idiot.
Unbeknownst to Dawn, Joe actually isnt responsible for the attack Billy was attacked by Kev in a 'wrong place, wrong time ' moment. Olivia says if she knew the truth, she would have acted very differently: If it wasnt Joe, she wouldnt make that choice at all. She wouldnt leave with his child, she wouldnt run away with her children.
Aided by Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) as part of his own revenge plan to get back at Joe, Billy and Dawn plot to flee the village on her wedding day with their children.
Viewers know that Joe is aware that Dawn and Billy shared a kiss, but does he know more? Ned says that Joe has his suspicions that something is not quite right: "He's not fully convinced that everything, which seems to be going so well, is going to go well.
"Like all villainous characters, they don't believe that they are bad people. They believe that they deserve happiness in the end, and he wants this to be the day that he and the love of his life deserve."
Teasing upcoming explosive episodes, Ned says: "Is he planning his own terrible revenge story?"
