Gogglebox fans 'turn off' show as they're left feeling 'uncomfortable' by TV moment

Gogglebox fans were left reeling after one TV moment left them feeling 'uncomfortable' with some admitting they were forced to turn off the Channel 4 show altogether

As Gogglebox fans tuned in for more comfy sofa banter on Friday night, neither the families on the show nor the viewers at home were ready for what popped up on their screens. Following the usual format, the nation's favourite TV critics were presented with a host of shows to review, with this week's selection including Gladiators, The Apprentice, Celebrity Bear Hunt and The Fear Clinic: Face Your Phobia.

However, it was a scene from the new season of The White Lotus, which premiered on Sky on Monday, that provoked the most significant response - with some fans left so uncomfortable they were forced to switch off.

The White Lotus has become notorious for its steamy scenes and jaw-dropping moments in its first two seasons, set in Hawaii and Sicily, and the new season is continuing this trend. The third season of the mystery drama kicked off with a fresh cast of characters arriving at a new White Lotus resort, this time in stunning Thailand.

Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins portray age gap couple Chelsea and Rick, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon and Michelle Monaghan play three longtime friends on a girls' trip, and season one fan favourite Natasha Rothwell, who plays Belinda, also made an appearance. However, it's the family headed by Jason Isaacs and Parker Posey, as Timothy and Victoria, that has sparked the most buzz due to the unfolding storyline between their adult children, played by Sarah Catherine Hook, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola.

A scene from the first episode featuring brothers Saxon and Lochlan sharing a hotel room has set tongues wagging online, and this week it appeared it was the turn of the Gogglebox families to get an eyeful. In the eyebrow-raising moment, older bro Saxon (played by Schwarzenegger) quizzed his younger sibling on his porn preferences before strutting off starkers to the bathroom for some 'me time', with his full monty reflection caught in the mirror.

While Gogglebox viewers were spared the full frontal, the sofa critics saw it all, with everyone from Ellie and Izzy to Jenny and Lee, and the Michael family letting out a shocked "Oh!"

White Lotus fans were 'grossed out' by Patrick Schwarzenegger's full frontal scene amid 'creepy' incest storyline.

"So far, so pervy, Mary," Giles quipped to his gobsmacked wife Mary, as Jake assured his twin Harry: "I have never done this by the way!" referencing Saxon's bathroom escapade.

"Something happens to people when they stop in hotels," Pete mused to sister Sophie, confessing, "it doesn't matter if it is a budget one or an expensive one, there has been many a night when I have heard it through the walls. I put two shortbreads in my ears! "

Meanwhile, fans are chuckling at Pete and Sophie's tip for those complimentary shortbread biscuits, with one viewer tweeting on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, reports the Mirror.

"Gogglebox so far so pervy lol he's right there," chuckled one Gogglebox fan, while another was quick to comment: "#Gogglebox has just made me put a line through watching the white lotus. Too weird and disturbing. No thanks! "

One viewer was so taken aback by the clip that they switched off Gogglebox altogether: "Why does #Gogglebox always end with the weird stuff. Turned off for the last five minutes. White lotus is a no-go for me, sorry."
