Fans of The Inbetweeners were over the moon as two favourite stars reunited and teased 'we're working on something'.
Joe Thomas, famed for his portrayal of Simon Cooper, and James Buckley, who played Jay Cartwright, have ignited hopes for a sitcom revival as they posted a series of jovial snaps on Instagram.
In their joint post, the pair are seen posing together while a photographer sets them up for a professional shot. Alongside the array of photos, she penned: 'Working on something ...'.
However, the post sent Inbetweeners devotees into a whirlwind of excitement as they flocked to the comments section to voice their hopes for a reunion, reports Devon Live.
One fan commented: "We need an inbetweeners reunion. Set 10/15 years later. Jay gets married and chaos ensues. American pie reunion showed that it can be done well"
Another simply queried: "'INBETWEENERS3? ? . A third commented: ". A third suggested: "Inbetweeners but it's mid life crisis time, Jay, Simon and Neil all have kids and some are married/divorced and Simon is somehow an absolute stud with the ladies and is single rich and free."
One fan pleaded: "We need an Inbetweeners 3 where you all go on a massive stag do I am BEGGING". Meanwhile another proposed: "The Inbetweeners navigating parenthood?".
The duo chose not to reply to any of the comments, leaving fans hanging in anticipation for now. The post follows fellow Inbetweeners star Simon Bird's dismissive remarks about the show's popularity.
Simon previously confessed to MailOnline: "People come up to me in the street and quote lines from the show and I have no idea what they're talking about.
"I don't watch myself back, I can't remember the show. '.- I don't think I've even watched it back since I made it in 2008."
He also put an end to any rumours of a reunion. "I can tell you emphatically that there are no prospects of a reunion," he stated.
Simon added: "We'd be happy to but it's not up to us, it's up to the writers, Iain and Damon, and I know they're both very busy these days.
"It's not more likely to happen now than it was ten years ago I'm afraid. I think it was a comedy that inhabited a certain time and, well, I think I caused quite a stir on social media in a previous interview where I said it wouldn't be made now but I'm not sure it would. So no, there has been no discussion about a new show or film."
