ITV I'm A Celebrity runner-up warns stars bosses 'try and break you' with 'no fun' camp

Channel 4 Hollyoaks star Owen Warner, who finished in second place on the 2022 edition of ITV's I'm A Celebrity has told this year's cast not to expect a 'holiday retreat'

Previous I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here... runner-up has issued a stark warning to this year's cast of the ITV show as jungle escapades begin again on Sunday (November 19).

Owen Warner, who narrowly missed out on being crowned King of the Jungle last December, revealed being in camp is simply "no fun" as bosses try to "break you down". The Hollyoaks actor appeared to cope pretty well as he finished second behind former footballer Jill Scott, but now he has opened up on his struggles with hunger and energy during his time in Australia.

Speaking on his Hits UK radio show to Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson ahead of his stint Down Under, 24-year old Owen admitted: "This isnt a holiday retreat. Youre going in the jungle! Its not fun, youve got no energy, youre hungry, youre tired and all of a sudden, youve got to lug this bucket full of water and its spilling over into your boots and now your boots are soggy, and youve got soggy feet."

Addressing Zara McDermott's beau directly, Owen continued: "Honestly things stack up and stack up and eventually youre raging - but thats what they want to do. They try and break you down Sam, dont let them break you!"

Sam, 31, appeared to be rather relaxed about his appearance, however, as he responded: "Im alright when Im tired and - famous last words - but I dont think the food thing is too bad as Ive never been hangry before..."

He went on to reveal that his one hope for the series was that it wouldn't involve a politician - so naturally he was disappointed to learn that one of his co-stars will be none other than former UKIP leader, Nigel Farage. "Weve got Nigel Farage - Big Nige! " he joked. "I can barely talk to my Mum about anything serious let alone a politician, so I think Ill leave [chatting to Nigel] to other people."

Sam continued: "I just dont want people to not like me! You know when youre in a camp with other people I just dont want to annoy them. I dont want people to go to the dunny and say That Sam guy is a bit annoying, isnt he?! What a loser!"

Earlier this week, meanwhile, he opened up on the unfortunate situation that saw him head to Brisbane in the wake of partner Zara's strictly-come-dancing>Strictly Come Dancing exit. Sam believed there would be a significant overlap in their times on their respective shows - one of the reasons behind his decision to sign up for the show.

He confessed: "When they asked [me to go into the jungle] I did think, if Zara was still on Strictly would I be a bad boyfriend if I went - but then decided I had to! As it turns out shes tapping out of Strictly just as Im tapping in.

"But because I thought she would still be doing Strictly, Petes [Wicks] coming with me! I dont know if Im going to have a girlfriend at the end of it...'."
