ITV The Masked Singer host falls to the floor after 'twisted' reveal

On Saturday night, ITV viewers learnt who was hiding behind Conkers on The Masked Singer.

On Saturday evening, The Masked Singer UK revealed its champion on the ITV programme, along with a shocking runner-up.

Following weeks of wild theories and educated guesses from viewers and the celebrity judging panel alike, the moment had arrived to discover the identities concealed beneath the elaborate disguises of Moth, Toastie and Can of Worms.

Throughout this series, audiences have witnessed celebrities including Alex Jones, Kate Nash and Professor Green being unveiled on the programme. The previous week saw Can of Worms and Sloth just miss out on reaching the finale as they were exposed as two unexpected famous faces.

Following weeks of spectacular performances and cryptic hints, everything reached its climax on Saturday evening. With Toastie being revealed earlier in the episode as Mica Paris, the competition narrowed down to Conkers and Moth.

Ultimately, Moth was declared the programme's victor. Yet before viewers discovered the celebrity's identity, Conkers was unveiled as This Morning presenter Ben Shephard, reports the Mirror.

In complete astonishment, Joel Dommett collapsed to the ground whilst pointing out that Ben had actually served as a guest panellist during their Halloween special.

Mo was left stunned as he exclaimed: "The deception! I can't believe this" whilst Joel declared: "So twisted, so twisted!".

Davina remarked: "That's one of my best, most favourite reveals ever! You naughty boy."

As Jonathan Ross mentioned that Ben had sat alongside them on the panel, Ben revealed there had been hints pointing to this during one of his VTs.

Reflecting on his experience, Ben revealed: "It's an extraordinary experience, having turned 50, I thought I've got to do a few more scary things, and I think tonight was my favourite.

"I felt like I've won just being able to come onto the show. So, I've just really enjoyed that song and then my boys love that song. It's been such an extraordinary journey, we sang The Time of Our Lives and it really has been, really emotional."

Despite Ben's stellar performance, he didn't claim victory, with Moth taking the crown as ITV audiences discovered Sugababes sensation Keisha Buchanan was hiding beneath the elaborate outfit.

Social media erupted following Ben's big reveal, with one viewer exclaiming: "BEN SHEPPARD?! #maskedsingeruk @benshephard you are a LEGEND I thought you were under the Sloth mask not Conkers! Loved it. xx".

Another fan posted: "Ben Shephard being a guest panelist AND a contestant in the same series of #MaskedSingerUK."

A third viewer praised: "Well done Ben Shepherd! He did well fooling everyone, even being on the panel at one point."

Meanwhile, one astute fan noted: "Conkers wasn't performing the week that Ben Shephard was on the panel - I think it was some clever misdirection!"
