ITV The Masked Singer's Sloth 'unveiled' as Countryfile legend

The Masked Singer viewers are convinced they've worked out the identity of Sloth

The Masked Singer viewers reckon they've rumbled Sloth's true identity, believing the mystery celebrity is a beloved BBC Countryfile presenter. The seventh series of the popular ITV reality programme is well underway, with audiences frantically trying to work out the famous faces lurking beneath the elaborate costumes.

Four celebrities have already been unmasked. The One Show's Alex Jones and rapper Professor Green were the first two reveals, stepping out from behind the Disc Jockey and Teabag disguises, respectively. They were followed by singers John Lydon and Marcella Detroit, who emerged as the personalities concealed within Yak and Gargoyle.

Eight mystery performers are still in the competition - Arctic Fox, Can of Worms, Conkers, Monkey Business, Moth, Red Panda, Sloth and Toastie. One particular outfit has set social media alight recently, with numerous fans insisting they've identified the celebrity hiding behind Sloth.

"I'm pretty sure Sloth is Countryfile star Ben Fogle. The voice really sounds like him, and lots of the clues are matching!" one person posted on Reddit, reports the Express.

Sloth's clue packages have revolved around physical fitness, with the performer announcing: "I know how to represent in the gym and on the world stage. Don't worry, I'm no muscle menace. You won't want to dodge these moves. Join my Squat Squad, anchor those feet, and don't keel over.

"Balance, it's important. Each exercise has a corresponding stretch. So, it's especially vital you do them. Anyway, enough of the warm-up, I'm ready to absolutely crush it!"

Viewers also spotted a rowing machine in the VT bearing a reserved sign, which many reckon hints at Ben and James Cracknell's gruelling 2,930-mile Atlantic crossing that put both their bodies and friendship to the test. Their epic journey was captured in the 2006 BBC programme Through Hell and High Water.

"Fogle did a Rickshaw charity thing with [James] Cracknell, hence the Rick Astley/Sandie Shaw clue?" one person posted, with others quickly explaining how additional clues point to the former Countryfile presenter.

Another viewer noted: "Interesting fact is that Ben's mother was in Half A Sixpence, where Flash Bang Wallop is from," whilst a third commented: "He's worked with both Prince William and Harry. One two, princes kneel before you etc."

A fourth fan agreed, stating: "Yes I also think the 'spin doctors' clue refers to the song rather than being political but the panel didn't seem to consider that," with another adding: "And the Amanda Prime science kit for his trip to Chernobyl!"

However, the judges - Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama and Mo Gilligan - haven't yet aligned with public opinion. Their current predictions include Joe Wicks, Chris Moyles, Jay McGuiness and Alexander Armstrong.

Sloth made their debut on The Masked Singer during the premiere episode on January 3, belting out Matthew Wilder's Break My Stride. The character then performed Soft Cell's 1981 classic Tainted Love in the show's Halloween-themed special over the weekend (17 January).

After tuning into the first few episodes, ITV viewers were quick to "recognise" Anton Du Beke and Marvin Humes as Arctic Fox and Can of Worms, with some speculating that Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan might be Moth. Could Ben Fogle be the face behind the Sloth mask? We'll just have to wait and see.
