This Morning star teases Coronation Street cameo as they exclaim 'I'm ready'

One beloved This Morning presenter has addressed whether he'd make a future appearance in Coronation Street alongside Mary Taylor, who is fond of the ITV legend

A This Morning legend has teased a possible Coronation Street cameo.

During Monday's (September 8) episode of Lorraine, host Lorraine Kelly caught up with actor Patti Clare as she marks 15 years of playing Mary Taylor on the ITV soap.

Soap fans will know that Mary is particularly fond of Ben Shephard, with several hilarious references of the former GMB star being included in the show over the years.

Mary's love of Ben was first revealed in 2020, when she showed off a blanket she owned that was covered in his face.

She then said that she planned to spend Valentine's Day cuddling up to her Ben Shephard pillow, after having previously decided that she wanted a Ben Shephard themed funeral.

Speaking about Mary's infatuation today, Lorraine said: "Now look, Mary is obsessed, I think it's fair to say, with someone very close to here. Our Ben Shephard. She adores him, doesn't she, and why not?"

Patti explained: "Mary is deeply in love and very possessive of Ben Shephard, and as the years have gone on, it's developed. So, she does have a comfort blanket, she does talk about him constantly in Preston's Petals.

"It would be wonderful one day if Ben did come onto the cobbles and went to see Mary in Preston's Petals and bought some flowers from her and they had a wonderful afternoon. However, nobody believed her that he'd been there, I think that would be wonderful."

Ahead of This Morning airing on ITV1, Lorraine then handed over to Ben and Cat Deeley, with Ben not ruling out a future cobbles cameo.

"Ben Shephard, Coronation Street cameo. Tell me, could it happen?" Lorraine asked, with Ben quickly replying: "I'm ready."

He continued: "Lovely to see you Patti. Let Mary know that Ben Shephard is very excited... Willing and able. I'll be up there as soon as I can be," much to Patti's delight.

Lorraine concluded: "She will be absolutely over the moon. I don't know if Ben would actually escape from Mary. I have visions of you tied to a radiator. It could get a bit dark."

Elsewhere in the interview, Patti discussed Corrie's upcoming live stage show with some of the soap's most-loved actors.

Hosted by Sharon Marshall, the tour will feature in-depth interviews between cast members in front of a live audience, where fans can find out more about what really happens on the cobbles of Weatherfield.

The show, which has been named An Audience with Coronation Street, will begin in London next week, with other confirmed performances taking place in Sheffield, Salford and Glasgow.

Coronation Street airs at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and is available to stream from 7am on ITV and Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1 at 9am
