An ITV news reporter has bid farewell to the broadcaster to embark on a new journey with independent news channel Al Jazeera English.

Antoine Allen begun his new role a few weeks ago but fans are only now realising on that he's made the switch and has since been inundated with well-wishes as he acknowledged his move in a post on X.

Sharing a snippet from his new employers showcasing him at work, he wrote: "I left the UK weeks ago, but I assume this video didn't reach many of my followers. Unless you die, there's no one tells viewers you've left.

"Thank you to everyone who appreciated my time at ITV News. I'll be wearing a suit a lot less, but giving a voice to the voiceless a lot more."

People flocked to the comments to congratulate him on the new role with one writing: "You made the right move, congrats."

Another added: "Good luck with your new role Antoine." A third chimed in: "Keep up the great work Antoine," adding an applause emoji at the end, reports the Express.

A fourth shared: " I'd heard you'd moved on when I was outside the protest outside Westminster Magistrates. London's loss is very much Doha's gain." A fifth gushed: "Ah! Congrats on the move." Meanwhile a sixth commented: "All the best, Antoine."

Antoine first joined ITV News in 2019 and during his tenure there, he was shortlisted for 12 prestigious awards including the Royal Television Society's Local Journalist of the Year in 2023.

In 2025, he etched his name in history by becoming the inaugural winner of the Sports Journalists' Association's (SJA) Sport For Change Award - a distinguished honour acknowledging journalism that delves into how sport addresses crucial societal issues like youth violence, diversity, and climate change.
