'James Martin fired two-word insult at me after I insulted his food on live TV'

James Martin has been a staple of our TV screens for two decades, and the beloved chef left Two Pints stars Will Mellor and Ralf Little in stitches on his ITV Saturday Morning show

A television personality who featured on James Martin's show took aim at his cooking abilities - but the chef's comeback left him utterly stunned. James Martin ranks among Britain's most acclaimed TV chefs. His broadcasting career encompasses appearances on Ready Steady Cook, The Big Breakfast, and Richard and Judy, before assuming control of Saturday Kitchen back in 2006.

The 53 year old left the BBC following a decade-long tenure, later establishing James Martin's Saturday Morning on ITV in 2017. James hosts a diverse array of celebrity guests on his programme, which airs from his personal residence.

Recently, TV stars Ralf Little and Will Mellor appeared on the show - the pair developed a strong bond while collaborating on Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

The duo revealed an amusing anecdote from their stint on the programme, triggered by Will's distaste for a particular ingredient James was preparing, reports the Mirror, reports OK!.

The renowned chef was cooking prawns and squid using a wood-fired oven, but Will was quite taken aback to find the prawns were presented with their heads still attached.

Ralf, 46, recalled on The Two Pints Podcast: "So we go on James Martin's show. James is this very successful chef, very talented chef, and he's making us prawns, with their heads on, prawns and squid on a wood fire grill right there in front of us.

"He's done his little bit to camera and the prawns are still cooking. Then we cut camera for like two minutes while they re-set some of the shots and then the prawns are ready.

"However in this moment, the wood grill started to smoke a little bit maybe because it good a bit too hot or something.

"Then Will turns to me and whispers off camera. This is filmed at his house, in his own manor, in his backyard, and Will goes: 'He's made a f****** balls of those prawns hasn't he. Burnt to f*** they are."

The 50 year old Will then allegedly had quite a frank conversation with James about the disastrous prawns.

The actor, famous for his parts in both Hollyoaks and Casualty, remembered: "What about what he said about the prawns? I said: 'I don't like their heads on.' He went: 'Grow up.'".

Despite the amusing anecdote, both performers agreed that James is "a great guy" and "a top guy".

Ralf disclosed that his colleague's remark had him absolutely creased with laughter, to the point where the television crew became worried he might require attention from the makeup department.

The cherished Royle Family star recounted: "Then they go: 'And we're back in three, two, one,' and I'm howling. Someone said 'we need to get makeup in for Ralf's eyes because he's crying' and he's crying because this nobhead's just turned around to me about the chef. About the world famous chef who knows how to cook these right.

"This is on camera, I hope you'll see it on camera, James goes 'this is how you cook rice.' Will says: 'How do you cook rice properly?' James goes: 'It's easy. You just do one part rice, to four parts water.' And Will goes: 'What's a part?'".
