Kelvin Fletcher rose to fame on ITV's Emmerdale, but he's been just as successful since swapping the Dales for countryside farming life.

The former Andy Sugden star relocated to the Peak District to embrace farm living a few years ago, and alongside wife Liz, they now front their own series chronicling their rural escapades - Fletchers' Family Farm, reports the Mirror.

The ITV show carved out its own niche in the crowded farming programme landscape, with audiences captivated by Kelvin and Liz's countryside pursuits, their experiences raising four youngsters, and their sweet partnership.

But what's the real story behind their off-camera love?

Kelvin, 42, hails from Greater Manchester and grew up close to where Liz lived.

Their paths first crossed as youngsters, with them meeting when they were eight years old.

Yet it wasn't until they reunited as grown-ups that romance flourished.

Their love story wasn't without its bumps, with reports indicating they temporarily parted ways in 2010.

Nevertheless, Kelvin and Liz reignited their relationship, and he proposed during a romantic getaway to Anglesey. The couple exchanged vows in an elegant celebration at London's One Mayfair in 2015.

The star has previously revealed that he recognised fellow actor Liz as his perfect match.

"I knew I wanted to marry Liz the day I met her," he confided to Hello! magazine. "Deep down I knew she was The One. The image of Liz coming towards me up the aisle will live with me forever.

"She took my breath away. She looked so beautiful."

Growing their family

Children were always part of their vision, with Kelvin previously revealing to Hello! that he would "love to have five".

They welcomed their firstborn - daughter Marnie - the year after their wedding, with son Milo arriving in 2018. In 2022 they announced that Liz was expecting once more, revealing they were anticipating twins this time around.

"We're having another two more children!" the actress revealed during a chat on BBC Breakfast.

"We just recently found out, to add another curveball if you like," said Kelvin. "We don't really do things by halves and then we found out we're having not just one baby, but two! So we're having twins. It was an absolute eye-opener."

Fresh beginnings on the farm

The couple recently revealed that prior to choosing farming life, they had plans to head to the US, though this fell through due to the COVID pandemic.

Chatting to celebrity chef and TV personality James Martin on his cookery programme, Liz explained: "We never got the visas completed because they said, 'There'll be a pause on this for at least two years.'

"But we'd mentally moved on, hadn't we? We sold the house, and we were like, 'Well, what are we going to do now?' And that's when we saw the farm, and it's literally that, that sprung the idea."

The duo chronicled their agricultural journey in Kelvin's Big Farming Adventure, before transitioning to Fletchers' Family Farm. Three series have already been broadcast and the programme has proved enormously popular, with a fourth series launching this weekend.
