Liz Fletcher became overwhelmed with emotion after discovering that the family's beloved dog, Ginger, was expecting puppies.
In the forthcoming series of Fletcher's Family Farm, due to be broadcast on Sunday, Liz described the news as the "best news" following confirmation that her dog was pregnant.
When the vet arrived, Kelvin Fletcher's wife held her pet close and said, "Here is your patient, not your usual farm animal. But it would be good to know, as we are all guessing, and it would be good to know if it is a yes or no."
She added, "There have been a few symptoms or signs, and I think she has been behaving differently."
When asked about Ginger's behaviour, Liz explained: "Eating a lot, then off her food, then very clingy, I think she is getting wider. She does seem a bit wider."
During the check-up, vet Hugo scanned Ginger's tummy and confirmed that the family's four-legged friend was indeed expecting.
"You can see a puppy there," he informed Liz, according to the Express.
Liz gasped as he went on: "That is a cross-section through a puppy. You can see ribs, legs.
"Oh my god, I can see it moving," Liz cried out as the vet disclosed there were two separate pups visible on either side.
Speaking afterwards, Liz declared, "Hugo, I think that is the best news you've ever given me.
"Better than the cows?" he asked, to which Liz replied, "Well, it is a close one, but she is just our baby. Oh my god, you are having pups."
She finished by saying, "Very happy that it is good news."
The synopsis for the opening episode of series four reveals: "Liz and Kelvin Fletcher make plans to double the size of their flock and herd, hiring local farmhand Josh to help manage the livestock.
"Meanwhile, Marnie is introduced to her new Jacobs as she makes her own plans for the new farming year ahead, the boys find time away from farming to swap tractors for motorbikes, and the family finally gets the green light to start the farmhouse rebuild."
Fletcher's Family Farm makes its return to ITV on Sunday at 11.30am.
