Lorraine Kelly exposes worst celebrity guests ever after 'difficult' encounter

Lorraine Kelly has shared the names of the two celebrities she's interviewed who have left her less than impressed, as the ITV star admitted that one was 'refreshed'

Telly favourite Lorraine Kelly, the face of her own ITV morning show since 2010, has let slip on some of the most difficult celebs she's had to interview. Spilling the details at the 2025 Hay Festival of Literature and Arts, she responded to an audience member's probing question with some candid confessions.

The Scottish star couldn't help but gush over George Clooney, labelling him as "adorable" and her top pick. "George Clooney is adorable. He just is. He's my favourite," Lorraine beamed.

However, it seems Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga didn't quite charm her in the same way, each leaving a sour note for very different reasons. Lorraine recounted her time with Mariah Carey, saying: "The one that was difficult, not because she was horrible... but Mariah Carey was 'refreshed'. It's good we were [pre-recording] it because her first answer was 10 minutes long, and did not make any sense."

She continued, showing a bit of understanding: "But I always give people the benefit of the doubt," reports OK!.

As for Lady Gaga, Lorraine was left hanging about, waiting for the pop icon for what felt like an eternity, only to be stood up. "They kept saying 'she's getting in the car, she's getting in the car', and of course my crew have all been up since God knows when... they need to go home to bed!" Lorraine said, before admitting with a hint of frustration: "She never turned up; I don't know what happened there."

The telly host's shocker comes amid whispers that she might be waving goodbye to her morning ITV slot by the end of next year, thanks to a major shake-up in the daytime line-up.

Lorraine will now only hit screens for 30 weeks a year, instead of the usual full-year run, and episodes will be trimmed down from an hour to just half that.

An insider told The Sun on Sunday: "Lorraine was asked if she wanted to retire, having just celebrated her 40 years on breakfast TV, but she instead chose to see out her contract."

Bosses reportedly thought it would be an ideal opportunity for her to spend more time with family, especially given how little she was on her own show last year.

Many think it is unlikely she will stay on after her current contract and that is further proven by the fact that the boss of her show will be part-time and on a one-year contract. "Lorraine was not happy about what is happening and also had concern for the production team which will be cut back too. A source disclosed to The Sun on Sunday: "She is a hugely valued member of the ITV history and is likely to do other shows at the channel, with some thinking she may explore documentaries, travelogues and passion projects."

But it's not just Lorraine's programme feeling the pinch. Loose Women is also getting shifted to the 12.30-1.30pm slot, but only for a seasonal stint of 30 weeks.
