Celebs Go Dating got heated after Mark Labbett told the dating experts: "We're smarter than you."
The Chase star is currently looking for love on the E4 show, alongside fellow celebs such as Kerry Katona, S Club's Jon Lee and Celebrity Big Brother's Donna Preston. In the episode that aired on Wednesday (September 3), he shocked everyone when he took aim at Paul C Brunson and co.
Quizzer Mark has recently developed a bond with beautician Deanne. During the most recent instalment, the duo attended a brunch where they were required to share their opinions of each other with fellow participants, reports the Mirror.
Mark declared: "We thought we'd get on, it's been great and we are just seeing how it goes!" Both confirmed their interest in pursuing another date together.
However, tensions escalated when Mark, 60, addressed the dating specialists Paul, Anna Williamson and Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn, suggesting his instincts had been superior to their guidance from the start.
He declared: "We have just enjoyed each other's company and sometimes there's a little bit of overthinking it. We've not been the master strategists that you are, but, let's face it, we're smarter than you!"
"Do you know why you always insult us?" asked Paul. "Because your emotional intelligence is on zero."
Mark fired back: "Sorry, but I'm nice to the people that count!"
Paul refused to let it slide and declared: "When you get nervous, you insult people."
"No just you!" Mark quipped, whilst attempting to frame it as some sort of 'teaching response'.
Paul kept talking, but when the TV quiz star glanced at his watch, he told him: "What you did right there, that's contempt. You wanna be a teacher? Try being a damn student first!"
The tension eased when Mark apologised.
He said in a confessional: "I've upset Paul. I didn't mean to but I don't like talking about my feelings, especially in front of a lot of people."
Returning to the brunch table, he said: "I'm sorry."
Paul asked whether it was genuine and Mark said it was, and the pair agreed to move past the row.
